Dear Authors and Readers,

Filedbyauthor is planning some exciting new features, which we’ll make available in the beginning of March, or sooner. In the meantime, we’ve received a few questions and would like to answer them:

Will I be able to connect with readers from my author page?

Yes, there will be both basic and optional tools available that will enable authors to have such things as a blog, integrate an existing blog, and/or communicate with registered readers through an author’s page.

When will I be able to search the site and see what other authors have done?

In our forthcoming public release, book lovers will be able to browse the entire site searching for authors and books of interest.

Will my free author page always be free?

Your basic author page, which is your directory listing on the site, will always be free. This functionality is available to all authors upon registration. Your free page allows you to:

  • add a personal photograph
  • write or update your biography
  • add several links to other websites
  • upload a video, a podcast or a PDF file

We believe this functionality provides all authors with a great way to be discovered in the community of authors and pages on our site.

Will you charge for other services?

Yes, we will introduce paid levels of membership, which are optional. These are carefully assembled to help authors promote themselves, their works, and to communicate with readers more effectively and cost-efficiently than a stand-alone author website. We will communicate more about the tools and functionality included in the paid membership levels as we get closer to releasing them.

Will books be available for purchase by people who visit the site or an author’s page?

Yes, in our forthcoming public release, we will facilitate the sale of books to readers who want to buy them via popular bookselling websites. Our primary focus is to help authors connect with readers through the site and their author pages.

Stay tuned to the FiledBy Blog for updates and announcements. You can also visit our Frequently Asked Questions page. And we welcome your questions here on the blog.

Thanks for Your Patience & Support!
